As much as I like all the artists represented in that top 5, that's a ridiculous list. "Satisfaction" is good and belongs there. But other than that....

Here's my top-of-the-head top 5 (plus 1):

Rolling Stones, Satisfaction
Iggy Pop, Lust for Life
The Kinks, You Really Got Me
Buddy Holly and the Crickets, That'll Be the Day
Chuck Berry, Johnny B. Goode
The Sex Pistols, Anarchy in the U.K.

Only Wilco and the Fiery Furnaces made the top 10 from my list.

TV on the Radio should only get better, I'm looking forward to hearing their future output. Seek out their demos, they are worth a listen, to me even more interesting than the resulting album.

Cindy, I like your list much better. I haven't really given it much thought and my list would probably lean toward the more obscure, but at least there were no Madonna songs in the top 5 of the RS one.

David, I first fell for TVotR after hearing the Pixies cover they did on an EP. They definitely have a unique sound that might be difficult for a lot of people to catch on to, but I put them up there as a current favorite.

Being a Pixies fan too, I tried to think of a song of theirs that says "rock and roll" to me. I mean, they rock, but I guess it's in a non-rolling way. (That's very badly said, but I hope you get my drift.)

I must check out these TV on the Radio people.
