The Minireviews (Books 19-21)

I won't claim these as the best minireviews I've written, but no way was I going to let another weekend go by without getting to some of the backlog.  Plenty more to follow; the only question is when.

{Previous minireviews can be found here.}

The Minireviews (Books 16-18)

I'm trying to get things off of my list.  Hopefully, I'll be able to put up a few more of these minireview sets before I pack my last box and head across the U.S. for North Carolina.  If not, it might be a while before I catch up with what has been a productive few months of reading.  For those of you just now finding Syntax of Things, I've made a promise to myself that I would give a brief recap of all of the books that I finish this year.  If you want to see what's already been covered, you can find the minireviews for 2006 here.

Now for the latest batch:

The Minireviews (Books 13-15)

I had a much longer introduction ready to go for this set of minireviews, but realized that it was longer than the minireviews.  So I've ditched it for now.  Basically, I took a look at why I had this sudden outburst of reading energy in January and bemoaned the fact that January is no more and that February will not be nearly as productive a month.  Nor will March or April or the rest of the year for that matter.

Anyway, here's the latest batch of minireviews, finishing up January's reads and moving on to the first one of February.  If you want to see the others, you can find all of the 2006 minireviews here.

The Minireviews (Books 10-12)

I think I'm going to have to come up for air soon.  Very soon.  I'm willing to take bets on when I'll hit the wall.  Will it be mid-February? Or can I keep this pace up until the baby is born, which I'm sure will mean I'll be lucky to get through a book a month in between all the crying and changing and sleepless nights of breast feeding.  No wait.

Anyway, here's the latest batch of minireviews.

The Minireviews (Books 7-9)

I'm on pace to read over 150 books this year.  If there's one thing I can guarantee, it's that I won't read 150 books this year.  It's just that I've been in a sort of reading zone since Christmas.  Nothing much else--TV, movies, music--has mattered.  That, and the fact that I have a nice, healthy stack of potentially good reads piled on my desk has helped keep nose to page these last three weeks.  It'll all come to an end soon enough.  And there is Vollmann's brick sitting toward the bottom of the pile which will probably drop my three books a week average down a couple of books.  We'll see.

Anyway, here's the latest round of minireviews.  If you have any interest in keeping up with what I've been reading, you can find the previous six books that I've finished and minireviewed here.

The Minireviews (Books 4-6)

Finally had a chance to catch up with the latest batch of books I've finished so far in 2006.  Of course, in the time it took me to get around to completing these minireviews, I've polished off a couple more.  But those will have to wait until next week.  In case you missed it, the minireviews for books 1-3 can be found here.

The Minireviews: Books 1-3

A new year, a new category, or actually just a renewed intent to complete a sort of log of the books that I've read during a given year.  When I started this blog, I kept a running list, thinking that I would go back and fill in the list with details.  Then I found that the list was a pain in the ass, so last year, I kept the list on a piece of paper, but still, very little was written about the actual book outside of title and author.  So to do more than just read the books, I'm making a promise--to myself at least--to keep this category updated.  No promises that these minireviews will be useful to anyone but who knows?  So with that, here's the first entry with the first three books I've read this year.
