Zan pointed out this piece in the Morning News in which the writer's "scientists" told him that two minutes and forty-two seconds is the perfect song length. I don't necessarily agree seeing as most of the time I prefer the longer songs, but there is a point where length gets in the way and you find yourself thinking, now one less chorus or a few less tangents or a couple of less doowopadeedles would have done wonders for that song. Anyway, following Zan's lead, I decided to take a peek at my iTunes collection and see just how many songs I have that would fit in the 2:42 category. Make of this what you will:
By the way, taking the 4303 songs in my iTunes library and doing a little math, I found that the average tune that I listen to is 3 minutes and 47 seconds long. I guess I'm too long for perfection.

Pinback!
And two-minute thirty-second songs are GbV's specialty.

Welch and Pollard? That's the two sides of my personality right there!
