This short post is brought to you by a high amount of stress and minimum amount of sleep. I promise two things. First, no mention of anything relating to the weather: no hurricanes, no heat, no dust devils. If I were to close my eyes right now, I'd see the accuweather radar permanently burned on my retina. I've been staring at it for far too long. In fact, the only way to get away from it has been reading Infinite Jest. Second, very little mention of the novel. The reading continues, but I'm drained.
To those of you directed to this report from TEV's post and hoping to find a running commentary on the novel, I apologize. It was never my intention to do some sort of extended book review. To do so would have surely sent me over the edge. The very act of picking this book up every day for the last nine has taken too much of my time and energy. I know it will ultimately be worth it. In fact, I'm enjoying the novel with every quarter of an inch of the book's width read. But as to why I'm doing this, good question.
With that said, here's what I managed on my first two days back to work after my week of vacation:
Day eight totals: 54 pages; 28 endnotes
Day nine totals: 59 pages; 26 endnotes
I see a light, getting brighter, and today I'll start the descent on page 795.

Note that I've created a category for the IJ Report.
hey Jeff, glad to check in and get the IJ report. Have been thinking of your parents in Ala. and hope they're doing okay.

Thanks CAAF. I hope the rain goes around you. Goodness knows you don't need any more.

Apologies if I mischaracterized the effort, my friend. Still, my heart goes out to you ...

You didn't at all, TEV. I just wanted to clarify in case anyone was curious. Perhaps I was clarifying for myself as well.
Thanks for thinking about me.
